Pune is one of the largest cities in India and one of the hottest centres of IT and manufacturing companies. It is the sixth largest metropolitan economy in the country.

The Kirloskar Group which is the largest engineering conglomerate introduced ‘industry’ in Pune by establishing Kirloskar Oil Engines Ltd. in 1945 at Kirkee. The HSBC Global Technology Center located at Kalyani Nagar develops complete software for the entire HSBC group.
The famous Hinjawadi IT Park is a project started by MIDC to promote the IT sector in Pune. The lovely city provides employment opportunities to more than 70,000 people. At present several giant software companies named Infosys, Accenture, Persistent Systems, Capgemini, Wipro, Satyam, TCS, Cognizant, Tech Mahindra, Syntel, Zensar, Oracle Corp, Neilsoft and IBM global are situated in Pune.
